Jack and I first met while we were scuba diving in Port Moresby. We kept in touch and met up several times for drinks and dinners whenever he was in town. We talked about all sorts of topics… politics, economics, life in PNG, life outside PNG and more. I also enjoyed listening to all his adventures. Jack may have left us early, but he definitely left his mark. He is dearly missed.

Jack was one of the first people I got to know when I started at Oxford. As St John's College Cricket Club captain he was so welcoming - even though I was older than most of the team and, even worse, Australian. More recently, we chatted over WhatsApp about our respective work in international development. I can't believe we'll never get the chance to continue our discussion over a beer in Port Moresby as we'd planned.
To Jack's family - thank you for giving us such a kind and considerate man. I am so sorry for your loss, and my thoughts are with you.
